Please Tell Me You've Seen This One
Do you know what a Cutter is?
Ever been on one side or the other of a Townie - student
existence?
This is a classic cycling movie. It won an Academy
Award in 1979 for Best Screenplay. Its about four friends
who come to terms with life after high school.
It's got
Dennis Quaid, and Daniel Stern (that crazy looking gut from "Home Alone"). It also has
the badass kid from "The Bad News Bears", but he creeps me out a bit
in his role as "Moocher". It was
directed by Peter Yates, the guy who brought us "Bullitt".
Like most of us, Dave has gotten bit by the cycling bug, but
he takes it a step further when he tries to become Italian,
after all, in his world all the best cyclists are Italian.
"The Italians are Coming, The Italians Are Coming."
Team Cinzano shows up and smashes his image of italian cyclists
in particular and the world in general. But not before Paul Dooley
screams out "Refund. Refund". Dave Stoller and his friends
eventually meets the challenge thrown at them by the local
college frat boys and beating them at their own game, but
not until they pull together as a team.
